1.Our approach

The Speech Coach Limited is a small, online-first coaching practice. Our environmental footprint is modest, and we intend to keep it that way. This policy sets out the practical steps we take, the commitments we make, and how we keep them honest.

2.Legal framework

We comply with all environmental legislation that applies to our business in the United Kingdom, and we support the United Kingdom’s legally binding target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 under the Climate Change Act 2008.

We follow the Competition and Markets Authority’s Green Claims Code: we will not describe our services as “carbon neutral”, “net zero” or “sustainable” unless we can evidence the claim, and any environmental claim we make will be clear, accurate and able to be substantiated.

3.Online-first coaching

Most of our coaching is delivered online, to clients across the United Kingdom and around the world. This avoids the travel, flights and venue use that in-person coaching would otherwise require. In-person and on-site coaching is available where it genuinely serves the client.

4.Travel

Where we travel for in-person or on-site work in London, we use public transport, walking or cycling wherever practical. We combine visits where we can, and we avoid flights where an online session or rail travel would do the job as well.

5.Digital, not paper

Our resources, carousels, guidance notes, proposals, agreements and invoices are produced and shared digitally. We do not print marketing materials as a matter of course, and we print documents only when a client specifically needs a paper copy.

6.Energy, equipment and waste

• We switch off equipment when it is not in use and choose energy-efficient devices when equipment needs replacing.
• We repair and reuse equipment before replacing it, and dispose of electronic equipment through certified recycling in line with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations.
• We minimise single-use items at the studio and recycle what we can.

7.Suppliers

When we choose suppliers, including hosting, software and professional services, we take their environmental practices into account alongside quality and value, and we prefer suppliers that publish credible environmental commitments.

8.Working with organisations

We are happy to support a client organisation’s own environmental and sustainability requirements, including recommending online delivery, combining sessions to reduce travel, and completing supplier sustainability questionnaires on request.

9.Responsibility and review

The Director of The Speech Coach Limited is responsible for this policy. We review it at least once a year and update it as our business and the law develop. Questions or suggestions are welcome at info@thespeech.coach.
